Silver Bells and Cockle Shells

Photobucket

My New Years resolution? To get up, go out, and start fashion blogging again. Since my last post I have moved to an old New England seacoast town, and started a modest new life with my boyfriend of over four years, Bretton. While it's no Edinburgh, I think the setting is more than pretty enough to be deemed 'chimerical.' So, here is my first outfit post of the new year, with many more to follow. I'm super excited to dive back into this. Not only was this blog good for my fashion sense and my confidence, but it was a wonderful way to chronicle my little adventures.

I'm absolutely obsessed with my new sweater dress. It's remarkably comfortable (I hate when sweaters are itchy), and surprisingly flattering (I have to be honest...I usually feel like sweaters add bulk and frump in all the wrong places). While it does require a waist belt for some shape, it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. The tights and flannel are from target (gotta love it), and these stunning earrings were a Christmas gift from my dear friend, Mysterious Cat.

An Infinite Variety of Adornments

Photobucket

Hello after a long hiatus from the world of Chimerically Yours. I return to you with some exciting news. I was recently commissioned to help operate the internet presence of my absolute favorite jewelry provider: Donna of Donna's Infinite Variety of Adornments. Now I can share in the absolutely mind-blowing experience of beholding her endless collection with you. One would be hard-pressed to find a more varied and expansive selection of pieces, seeing as she has everything from Victorian and Art Nouveau, to Contemporary works and vintage Chanel.

I highly recommend you check it out, my fellow vintage-lovers. You can find her at http://adornment-diva.blogspot.com and http://adornmentdiva.tumblr.com. Here are a few of the pieces I acquired from Donna that have made their way into my blog in the past:

Pin Stripes and Apple Tights

Photobucket

There's nothing quite like a good Urban Outfitters sale find. I got this dress from a store in NYC and I'm a little bit enamored with it. I'm not really a bow girl, but I love how subtle and unique the back is to this dress. Not to mention it fits like a dream. And the pin stripes (which are also not usually my style) match statement candy-apple-red tights so marvelously. I'd probably wear this outfit every day if I could. It even has pockets.

I look unavoidably tired in these pictures, which is probably due to the fact that a friend of mine from Scotland came to visit for my birthday (24, baby!), and we sort of annihilated my liver. I need some quality time with my bed and a good book pretty desperately. At least the tripod I'm borrowing from Bretton did it's job well. I still need some practice with it, but now I can post more than once a month. More to come!

Addiction to Nail Polish

Photobucket

As you've probably noticed, I have a bit of an obsession with nail polish. And by "a bit," I may or may not mean "gargantuan mass of titanic proportions." Little relaxes me more than painting my nails, and on my worst, most stressful days at work I can stare at the pretty colors while I type. Unfortunately, nail polish is one of those things that I can never have enough of no matter how much I get. There are always more colors, more moods, and every time the seasons change I feel an overwhelming desire to hit up Target, and buy them in bulk. I've gotten rather proficient at painting them myself (right hand included), and these new Sally Hansen nail pens even let me do leopard print and french manicures. Who can afford a professional manicure anyways? Besides....my collection rivals the salons anyways. It's like fourth grade with my Limited Too plastic, sparkly trunk all over again.
